Pendant que Raphaël est sur le Dusky track, il est prévu pour moi que j’aille à Wellington afin d’acquérir notre van pour le reste de notre voyage en Nouvelle-Zélande.
Le 4 avril au soir, je prends un bus depuis Te Anau pour aller à Queenstown car le lendemain, j’ai mon avion pour ma destination finale : Wellington. Ce soir-là je retrouve Jamie, Roxann et Linde pour boire un verre avec eux et leur dire aurevoir. Je me sens un peu triste de quitter ce petit monde et cette ambiance du TA.
Le lendemain, je m’envole donc pour Wellington. J’atterri en milieu de journée. J’occupe le reste de l’après-midi à planifier mon séjour à Welly et à profiter du soleil en attendant de retrouver Pip à la sortie de son travail. Il est prévu que je séjourne quelques nuits chez Pip et Fredi le temps de récupérer le véhicule. (Merci encore 1000x!)
Après avoir fait la paperasse nécessaire pour le véhicule, j’obtiens les clés du van le 8 avril. C’est une Toyota Estima Lucinda de 1996 avec conduite automatique. Le fait que ce soit une voiture automatique s’avère très pratique, car, pour rappel, on roule ici à gauche. Héritage de l’empire Britannique…
Une fois l’admin pour la voiture réglée, j’ai aussi profité du beau temps pour visiter Somes Island au milieu de la baie de Wellington et pour faire une petite marche à Butterfly Creek avec mes hôtes. J’ai aussi retrouvé Fleur pour une journée avant qu’elle ne s’envole pour le Japon.
J’ai également conduit jusqu’à Kaitoke Regional Park pour faire un tour où certaines scènes du film du Seigneur des Anneaux ont été tournées soit ; Rivendell et les Jardins d’Isengard.
Pour ma dernière soirée seule, je suis allée à Wainuiomata Beach pour explorer la plage et pour repérer un potentiel spot d’escalade.

On the evening of April 4, I take a bus from Te Anau to go to Queenstown because the next day, I have my plane for my final destination: Wellington. That evening I find Jamie, Roxann and Linde to have a drink with them and to say goodbye. I feel a little sad to leave this small world and this atmosphere of the TA.
The next day, I fly to Wellington where I land in the middle of the day. I spend the rest of the afternoon planning my stay in Welly and enjoying the sun while waiting to meet Pip after work. It is planned that I stay a few nights with Pip and Fredi until I get the car. (Thanks again 1000 times!)
After doing the necessary paperwork for the vehicle, I finally get the keys to the van on April 8. It’s an automatic 1996 Toyota Estima Lucinda. The fact that it is an automatic car is very practical, because, just to remind you, we drive on the left here. Heritage of the British Empire…
With the admin for the car done, I take advantage of the good weather to visit Somes Island in the middle of Wellington Bay and to take a short walk at Butterfly Creek with my hosts. I also meet with Fleur for a day before she flies to Japan.
I also go to Kaitoke Regional Park to walk around a couple of places where some scenes of the Lord of the Rings movie were filmed : Rivendell and the Gardens of Isengard.
For my last evening alone, I went to Wainuiomata Beach to explore the beach and to spot a potential rock-climbing spot.
