Vers 9:30, après le petit déjeuner, je monte à nouveau rejoindre Roxann, Jamie et Max au briefing canoë du matin pour voir s’il y a des news particulières concernant la rivière en crue mais pas grand chose de nouveau à ce niveau-là.
À la réception, pas beaucoup plus de nouvelles sauf que les chances pour un départ pour 6 jours de descente baissent d’heure en heure car la pluie tombe encore dans la région.
On quitte le camp vers 11:00 avec la voiture de Anne dans l’idée de faire le resupply pour les 6j de canoë après être allé manger un lunch. Pour le lunch on retourne au Cafe 75 avant de retourner vers le New World pour le resupply. Mais au dernier moment, on décide de ne faire qu’un resupply pour ce soir et demain matin. On va attendre d’avoir les toutes dernières nouvelles avant de faire notre resupply plus tard ce soir (le supermarché ne ferme qu’à 20:00) pour ne pas acheter trop au cas où. On rentre alors au camp et on se pose pour attendre le prochain briefing un peu plus tard.
Vers 16:00 on retourne à la salle de briefing avec tous les autres hikers pour connaître les dernières décisions pour demain. Après une bonne d’heure d’attente on apprend que le niveau d’eau descend légèrement mais n’est pas encore tout à fait ok pour être un go.
Par contre on reçoit la nouvelle que le trip de 6 jours est lui aussi mort alors on retourne en voiture au supermarché pour acheter 5 jours de nourriture. On décide de partager les frais avec Gijs et Anne et de cuisiner tous nos repas ensemble 😊.
Il ne nous reste plus qu’à espérer que la sortie de 5 jours ne sera pas non plus annulée car sinon on aura 5 jours de bouffe qu’on pourra pas porter dans nos sacs 😬
At around 9:30 am, after breakfast, I go up to join Roxann, Jamie and Max at the morning canoe briefing once again to see if there is any particular news concerning the river in flood but not much new at this time.
At the reception, not much news except that the chances for a start for 6 days of descent are decreasing hour by hour because the rain is still falling in the region.
We leave the camp around 11:00 with Anne’s car with the idea of doing the resupply for the 6 days of canoeing after having eaten lunch in town. For lunch we return to Cafe 75 before returning to the New World for the resupply. But at the last moment, we decide to do only one resupply for tonight and tomorrow morning. We’ll wait to have the latest news before doing our resupply later tonight (the supermarket doesn’t close until 8:00 p.m.) so as not to buy too much just in case. We then return to the camp and chill while waiting for the next briefing a little bit later.
At around 4:00 p.m. we return to the briefing room with all the other hikers to know the latest decisions for tomorrow. After a good hour of waiting we learn that the water level is going down slightly but is not yet quite ok to be a go.
On the other hand, we receive the news that the 6-day trip is also dead so we drive back to the supermarket to buy 5 days of food. We decide to share the costs with Gijs and Anne and cook all our meals together 😊.
We now just have to hope that the 5 days trip won’t be cancelled as well otherwise we’ll end up with 5 days worth of food that we won’t be able to carry in our backpacks 😬.
